I agree with George that eternal damnation has got to be the most hateful belief I have ever heard of. Without the threat of hell, out emotional state is going to be a lot happier.

I agree with George that eternal damnation has got to be the most hateful belief I have ever heard of. Without the threat of hell, out emotional state is going to be a lot happier. It's a damaging notion, possibly even to the people who abandoned the free will belief, I find certain hateful areas of my brain being triggered when I am annoyed about something and although I don't wish anyone to burn in Hell, if I get mad about something I do say insulting things about people. This is the damage the former free will belief has done to me, it has made me less forgiving and subconsciously I can't help it but I try.

A year ago I was one of those extremely angry atheists who was mad at all the Christians for their hateful beliefs they defend. Now I understand that all of them are just as much a victim as I was.

True, unfortunately this means even Fred Phelps wasn't at fault. His views about homosexuality and atheism were destructive, but it isn't a good thing to carry that bitterness with us.

Yes, I feel sorry for all people infected with false and bad beliefs. I want to help them get over them so they are happier.

Yes, I feel sorry for all people infected with false and bad beliefs. I want to help them get over them so they are happier. Me too, I want everyone to wake up from the delusions that poison their minds, likely since childhood. I want others to treat me like a human being so I feel the need to extend that same compassion to everyone else, or try to anyway.

I am sad that so many of the christians I know will not let go of the very beliefs that do not match their character. Too many pro-life christians are hurting their own cause by blaming people their own actions and threatening them with hell.
